The 11 Best Pool Table Brands + Top Table Picks

Looking for the best pool table brands that money can buy? Check out our quick-fire guide.

Jump onto any billiards online store, and you’ll see a ton of pool tables for sale. Prices will vary from $1000 for a cheap and flimsy product, through to $10,000 for a high end pool table.

This guide doesn’t cover all brands available. Instead, we’ll focus on the best pool table brands for the money, available in the USA right now.

How much do the best pool table brands cost?

You should expect to spend somewhere in the region of $2,000-5,000 for a top quality product from one of the best pool tables from a leading manufacturer. If budget allows, there are tables available in excess of this, sometimes creeping towards $10,000.

We’ll be focusing on higher end products here. But, if you are looking for something below $1,000, we’d suggest going for something like the Barrington here.

The Best Pool Table Brands

Brunswick

brunswick pool tableAny billiards connoisseur is going to be sticking Brunswick in their list of top pool table brands. They’ve been creating lifestyle products for over 170 years. And, over this time, they’ve managed to gain big exposure, with their tables now being sold across the globe.

One of their showstoppers, is the Brunswick Danbury. It’s a chunky 8ft table with ball and claw design. It’s certainly not the cheapest pool table on the market, costing over $3000. However, it’s certainly one of the best.

Eastpoint Sports

eastpoint pool tableEastpoint Sports can’t be compared directly to the likes of Brunswick or Valley in terms of quality. However, where they do come up trumps is price. They’re able to deliver quality products in the sub $1,000 range, such as their 2-in-1 (pool and table tennis) which you can check out here.

Although Eastpoint Sports offer plenty of options for those on a budget, if your budget stretches to $2000-4,000, in our opinion, there are plenty of better options on this list.

Empire USA

Empire USA pool tableLooking for one of the best pool table brands, offering great value for money? Empire USA are certainly worth a look.

They tend to sit in the mid-range in terms of price, with a lot of their pool tables being offered in the $2,000 range. However, it’s hard to differentiate them in terms of quality when directly compared to much more expensive brands, which is certainly a good thing.

If you’re searching for a modern looking pool table, and have a budget of around $2,000, the Empire USA Carton Table is worth putting onto your short list.

Harvil

Harvil pool tableGot a $3k budget and looking for something sleek and modern?

Harvil pool tables are going to fit the bill. One of our favorites is the Harvil Galaxy, which is an 8ft table made from cabinet grade wood, with a 3-piece slate surface, meaning it won’t warp over time.

You can check it out here.

Hathway

hathway pool tableHathway are one of the best pool table brands on this list for those on a budget. Their focus is on billiard tables in the sub $1,000 range, and they have plenty on offer.

One thing we don’t like is there’s a distinct difference in design and quality when compared with other brands on this list (such as the Harvil mentioned above). However, that’s to be expected when you’re looking at a purchase price of around 50% less.

Looking for a pool table under $1,000? Check out the Hathway Bristol 7ft table. In fact, it’s not just a pool table; it doubles up as a ping pong table too!

Imperial

imperial pool tableImperial USA is one of our favorite brands on this list, but certainly not the cheapest. A quick flick through their range and there’s a distinct difference in quality and design when directly compared to pool table brands in the same price bracket.

But brace yourself! You’ll need a budget in excess of $3,000 to get one of their top products. A quick example would be the Imperial 8ft outdoor pool table; you won’t get much change from $4,000 if this is what you choose to buy.

Olhausen Billiards

Olhausen pool tableWe’ve put Olhausen on our best pool table brands list for one reason; this is a specialist pool table company. Many other companies produce a wide range of sporting equipment, meaning their focus isn’t making the best pool tables possible; it’s quantity, not quality.

Olhausen started back in 1973, when Butch and Don Olhausen purchased a pool table manufacturing company for $1,000. At the time, they were installing and re-covering tables for that very company. They took Olhausen from 35 tables per year, to 70, in their first year. And from there, it’s grown from strength to strength. They now produce some of the best pool tables that money can buy.

But, the best, comes at a premium. A typical Olhausen is going to cost in the region of $5,000-6,000. For instance, both the modern looking Olhausen West End and the more rustic looking Hampton, won’t give you much change from $6,000.

But if you have the budget, they’re worth it. The design and quality are leaps and bounds above anything else that’s out there; Olhausen make some of the best high end pool tables on the market.

Plank & Hide

Plank & Hide pool tablePlank & Hide is a company that focuses on luxury living. They create some of the most unique furniture and household items that money can buy. And, fortunately for us, that includes some of the best pool tables available too.

If you’re looking for your pool table to be the centre piece of your home, we’d suggest looking at the Plank & Hide Thomas. It’s a solid but rustic looking table. But, when you’re not using it for pool, it doubles down as a stunning dining table.

The only problem? Like Olhausen, quality comes at a price. Don’t expect much change from $6,000 if you want the Thomas pool/dining table.

Valley-Dynamo

valley pool tableValley-Dynamo are better known for their coin operated pool tables. So, if you need a table for a man cave and want a true billiard hall experience, this is the brand for you.

The company has been manufacturing some of the best pool tables on the market since 1947. Over decades, the company has grown from strength to strength, with their products now being distributed in 24 countries.

However, if you’re not a fan of coin operated machines, they do have other options. One of the most popular being the Valley-Dynamo Black Cat. It’s 88in long and is priced around $3,000, so is similar in price to the likes of the Brunswick mentioned at the start of this list.

Fat Cat

fat cat frisco pool tableFat Cat Billiards (made by GLD products) have been gaining a ton of good reviews online, so make it onto our list of top brands. Our pick for one of the best pool tables under $1,000? The 7ft Fat Cat.

The actual MSRP is over $1,200, but there are plenty of online suppliers with it on sale for under $1,000. And, we think that makes it an absolute steal.

Who Makes The 7ft Fat Cat?

Fat Cat pool tables are made by a well-known, homegrown US brand; GLD Products.

GLD Products have been producing gaming kit for over 30 years. And, they specialise in billiards and table games. So, you can be sure the stuff rolling out their factory is super-high quality; they know exactly what they’re doing.

Online Reviews

When splashing out this kind of cash on a product online, I always want to check out reviews. And, it’s not like I want to see 100s of 5 star reviews.

Sometimes, the best reviews are those that explain the downfalls of a product. And that’s because these reviews usually offer up an honest opinion of what the product is really like, rather than a boring online description, straight from the manufacturer.

Jump onto any shop selling pool tables online, and you’ll see plenty of reviews from happy customers that love their Fat Cat.

Design

Let’s face it, whether this is going in a man cave, or your lounge; it’s going to become the center piece of that room. And, that means you need to look sleek.

The design and looks of the 7ft Fat Cat pool table is up there with the best. In fact, it rivals the luxuriousness of leading brands that sell pool tables for $2,000, $3,000 and beyond.

Alongside a fresh-looking play surface, rubber bumpers and diamond inlays on the 56-inch rails, you’ll get bevelled legs and a brown wool cloth – it looks stunning!

Durability

The problem with cheap pool tables under $500 is that they start to look really-rough, really-quick.

But, that’s not the case with the Fat Cat. The table’s protected by a play surface of Accuslate, and that’s a full 1-inch thick. And, GLD Products are so confident in the durability of this work surface, you’ll get a 7-year warranty chucked in for free. You won’t get that from cheap pool table brands.

And, for protection up in the pockets, you’ll get durable but cool looking K66 rubber bumpers.

Accessories

So, what’s actually included if you buy the 7ft Fat Cat?

You’ll get the pool table (obviously), but you’ll also get some bonus-extras. That’s going to include chalk (x2), a triangle, a brush to keep your table in great shape.

And, they’ve even thrown in a set of quality billiard balls, as well as two sleek looking 57-inch cues.

Basically, this is the full package; everything you need to start playing.

Size

So, how big is it? After all, you need to make sure you have space for the Fat Cat pool table.

The 7-footer comes in at 89.5L x 50.5W x 31H.

Minnesota Fats

Got a budget of $2,000? I’ve got AWESOME news for you.

You’re going to have plenty of spare notes to rub together after buying the Fullerton 8ft; it’s MSRP is just $1500.

Want to know something even better? There are online retailers selling it for WELL below the MSRP!

Online Reviews

If you read our quick review of the best pool table under $1,000 above, you’ll know I’m a sucker for online reviews.

And, here lies a problem. The more expensive products are, the less they sell. The fewer customers there are? The fewer reviews there are too.

However, there are SOME reviews online, and they’re worth checking out. That’s going to give you an idea of what people think of the Minnesota Fats Fullerton 8ft pool table, rather than just reading a boring manufacturer’s description.

Design

Whilst the Fat Cat 7ft is nice, you really do get what you pay for. Comparing them back to back makes the Fullerton stand out as a much sleeker design; the kind of thing you want in the center piece of a room.

And, that’s partly due to the higher quality rails, veneered tapered legs and the rich dark chestnut finish; we just love it!

Durability

Like the Fat Cat, you’ll get a playing surface that’s 1-inch thick. But, this one’s better.

Why? It features a 1-inch Dur-A-Bond surface that has an internal levelling system. And that means that even after decades of use, your playing surface is still going to be next to perfect!

Accessories

Again, like the Fat Cat, you’ll get the full ready-to-go package deal here.

That means you’ll get a triangle for racking, chalk, a set of billiard balls and a brush for keeping your pool table fresh.

You’ll also get a set of high quality one-piece cues.

Size

Compared to the Fat Cat, this table is much bigger, so make sure you have a room with ample space.

The manufacturer’s dimensions are 96″ x 53″ x 31″.

Looking for something a bit bigger and sleeker than the Fat Cat?

Start playing in style, with the Fullerton 8-footer.

The playing surface is made from a 3-piece and 1-inch thick Brazilian slate bed. And, the sub frame means that this pool table is one of the strongest and most supportive on the market.

You’ll get an attractive cherry wood finish, making this an impressive center piece for any room in your house.

Want a pool table that really stands out? The Playcraft is for you.
